The Maremma Region

Maremma is a unique region, full of beautiful surprises. There are many ways to discover it: follow the country roads to the sea and beaches through diverse farmland, or up into the wooded hills. Stumble upon small medieval villages, sample the local foods, or explore one of the several Etruscan archaeological sites. Maremma is mainly dedicated to agriculture with olive groves, sunflower fields and tidy vineyards. Many farms sell their own produce at road-side stands. The region also maintains a wild side worth exploring: deep, mature forests and numerous unspoiled beaches, often with breathtaking views over turquois sea and the islands of the Tuscan Archipelago. Almost everywhere you look there is an abundance of Mediterranean plants and wildlife. Hilltop picturesque villages hiding architectural treasures and family-run delicious restaurants, are spread all over.
